FROM THE PROVOST

You are welcome to Gindiri Theological Seminary (GTS), Plateau State, Nigeria. GTS is the premier theological institution of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), one of the major evangelical denominations in Nigeria (with branches outside Nigeria). COCIN was started in 1904 through the missionary activities of the Sudan United Mission (SUM) British Branch, and thirty years later, the school was established in 1934 as a Bible College.

GTS went through different stages of development to become the seminary that it is today, which trains qualified ministers of the gospel nationally and internationally. The founders believed in holistic education as a tool for producing ministers who would effectively participate in the religious and moral development of the emerging Nigerian State. Our motto: “Rightly Handling the Word of Truth,” points to our quest to make ready for the ministry a minister who is competent in teaching the never-changing word in an ever-changing world.

Our primary goal is to glorify God through the provision of good theological education for wholistic ministry, particularly in the African context. The student population at inception was not more than ten, but the Seminary today has over seven hundred (700) current students in both our undergraduate (full time and part time) and postgraduate programmes. In addition, the Seminary has graduated over ten thousand students, many of whom are now pastors across the globe.

As an institution, we are witnessing significant and rapid growth in terms of academic programmes, infrastructural development, staff strength, student population, scholarly research, and general innovations. The seminary strives to be a model tertiary institution, thus its affiliation with the University of Jos, a relationship that has helped the seminary to pursue and maintain high academic standards. We are also hoping to become a global Christian institution in the present era of a globalized Christianity.

To this end, we hope to strengthen our use of electronic technology for classroom learning, library usage, and other academic facilities. This will also entail empowering our faculty and students with the necessary knowledge in information technology for effective and quality academic research. If you are interested in supporting Gindiri Theological Seminary to achieve her goals through your kind financial donation, please use the DONATE TO GTS option on the menu above or come pay us a visit.

Finally, GTS welcomes all interested students both nationally and internationally, irrespective of denominational affiliation. We are a Christian community that eschews all forms of indiscipline and indecent behaviour in order to maintain the Christian commitment of being salt and light of the world. If you choose to come here, you will find for yourself a growing community of faith that will enable you to also grow both as a person and as a minister of the gospel of Christ.

We look forward to welcoming you here either as a student or as a supporter and friend of

GTS.

Thank you!
