A Season of Gratitude: Reflections on Our Annual Thanksgiving Service
There are moments in the life of a church that remind you just how good God has been, and this year’s Annual Thanksgiving service was one of them. We were truly honored and blessed to have the President of the Church join us, bringing a message that stirred hearts and renewed our collective sense of gratitude.
A Message Rooted in Scripture
The President’s message was drawn from Deuteronomy 8:7-18, a passage that speaks powerfully about remembering God’s provision. In it, Moses reminds the Israelites of the good land they were about to enter a land of streams, wheat, and abundance and warns them not to forget the Lord once they had eaten and were satisfied.
Using this passage as a foundation, the message challenged us to cultivate a spirit of gratitude for every blessing in our lives, no matter how small it may seem. It was a timely reminder that thankfulness isn’t reserved for the big, obvious wins; it’s a posture we’re called to hold onto in the everyday, in the small mercies we sometimes overlook.
From Worship to Ground-Breaking
The blessings of the day didn’t end with the sermon. Following the service, the congregation moved together to the site of our faith project for the dedication of its first phase. It was a fitting way to close out a day centered on gratitude, moving from words of thanksgiving to a tangible step of faith, dedicating this new milestone to God who has brought us this far.
Looking Back with Gratitude, Looking Forward in Faith
Days like this remind us why gratitude matters. It grounds us. It keeps us mindful of where we’ve come from and hopeful about where God is leading us next. As we reflect on this Annual Thanksgiving service, we carry with us not just the memory of a powerful message, but a renewed commitment to give thanks in all things and to keep building, in faith, toward what lies ahead.
