On September 24th, Gindiri Theological Seminary (GTS) held its 2026 matriculation ceremony for new undergraduate and postgraduate students. It was a day of celebration, and it drew an impressive gathering of dignitaries and leaders.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos was represented at the ceremony by the Chairman of the Board of COCIN Institutions. The University’s Registrar was also represented. Other guests included the Director of Education, COCIN, and the Gindiri Schools Chaplain, who joined the Provost, management, and staff of GTS to welcome the new students.
In his charge to the matriculants, the Chairman of the Board of Institutions, COCIN, Rev. Prof. Dauda Chentu, had a timely word. He encouraged the students to study diligently and cautioned them about the age of artificial intelligence. AI can be a useful tool, he said, but relying on it too heavily weakens critical thinking and breeds overdependence.
Drawing from Matthew 5:14-16, Rev. Prof. Chentu urged the new students to be the light and to make a lasting impact on GTS. Light, he reminded them, is not just something they do but who they are, and it is their identity.
The Provost also inaugurated the graduation committee, which will serve for the next three years.
As the new students begin their journey at GTS, we welcome them and pray that they will grow in knowledge, faith, and character.
